BECOME AN ENROLLED AGENT

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? Not sure where to start?
You're in luck! We've partnered with Gleim to help boost your confidence in becoming an Enrolled Agent (EA).

HOW TO BECOME AN EA

Tax professionals that want to reach a higher level of education need to pass a three-part exam to test their knowledge of tax law and processes. The exams cover individuals, businesses tax procedures, representation and tax practice. All 3 exams must be taken and passed within two years. Once completed, the tax professional must go through a background check administered by the IRS.

Enrolled agents must obtain 72 hours of continuing education every three years.

BENEFITS

1. It Can Replace a CPA for IRS Representation

Both CPA’s and EA’s have the ability to represent taxpayers without limitations. A CPA license is one of the most respected certificates you can get, and earning one is not easy. If you are unable to get a CPA, an EA will give you the same representation before the IRS. You will be able to handle a variety of tax matters and represent any taxpayer in any state.

2. It’s a Sign of Tax Expertise

Being an EA is about more than having a certificate on your wall. It means that you have demonstrated the knowledge and ability that establishes you as top rated in your field. The license is impressive to clients and it is recognized in all 50 states.

3. The Ability to Prepare Complicated Returns

The knowledge you obtain from studying for the test and maintaining your license will give you the ability to prepare more complicated returns. This will expand your client base helping you to generate more income.

4. You’re Always Up to Date

It’s important for tax preparers to be up to date on the latest tax laws. As an EA, you will have to continue your education to get the proper credits to maintain your license. In doing so, you can feel confident that you current with IRS regulations. You will also not be required to take the IRS Annual Refresher Course. EA’s are automatically added to the IRS National Database list of credentialed preparers.
